Please note: Standard sales contracts for residential property in Queensland have a cooling-off period of five business days. This means if you’re not totally happy, you can cancel the contract within the cooling-off period. For standard sales contracts, the five-day cooling-off period starts the day you receive a copy of the contract signed by both you and the seller, providing that day is a business day. If you want to cancel the contract during the cooling-off period, you must give written notice to the seller, the sellers solicitor or the agent and deliver it before 5pm on the fifth day. You may be refunded your deposit in full, but the vendor can charge you a termination penalty equal to 0.25% of the purchase price of the property.
